You’ve probably seen that 30-day decluttering challenge where you declutter 1 thing on day 1, 2 things on day 2, and so on—ending with 465 items gone.
Well, I wanted to level up to 1,000 items. You can watch me do it here:
Basically after asking ChatGPT to do some quick math, I created 50 “buckets,” each with a number from 1 to 44 (and a few extra bonus buckets), adding up to 1,000 items total. Every time I decluttered an area, I counted how many items I got rid of and colored in a bucket. It was SO satisfying—and wildly motivating.
I wanted to offer the printable to you if you wanted to take on the challenge

Well, wrap up time on 1,000 items in one week. Last week, I noted that a garage sale helped me divest our household of 225 items. What I didn’t mention is that I almost bought at a neighboring garage sale, an old dresser because “I didn’t have enough room in our dressers for our clothes.” But I resisted the buy and yesterday, packed up 5 boxes of clothes from our dressers and sent them to a thirft store (in what former life did my husband need silk boxers? when was I really going to wear tangerine yoga pants?) Poof, 150 items of clothes plus a few old cookbooks out the door. Today, I got ruthless with my file drawers. I don’t need hard copies of every draft of my novels. Who do I think I am Dickens? Trashed several old ones - two free file drawers and hit 1,000. Thank you, That Practical Mom!
